Default PT 2022.5 - sluggish GUI

Hi,

I have my 5.1 with OpenCore and NVIDIA K5000, 3 Screens HD working...under BigSur.

2021.3 worked really fine, graphics wise, also in that SystemConfig.
the last Updates were really awful...
also actual Version produces bucking, I had also a Radeon 580 here to check, if the graphic card is the problem... no, it was not, and as 2021.3 worked fine on the same System, it seems to be a thing of PT...

Ah and sure, I trashed preferences etc, also when changing GraphicCard...

I know, it was in older threads, but anyone the same impression on this version..?

Best
Chris

Zero system info makes it pretty hard to help.

It is running pretty snappy here. My first guess is a plugin compatibility issue. Try moving all your plugins into the unused folder, relaunch Protools, and see if the GUI runs better. If so, start moving plugins in one or a few at a time and relaunching Protools in between until you find one or more plugins that are causing the slowdown. Check with the plugin manufacturer to see if there is an update that works with Protools 2022.4 or 2022.5 and Big Sur. If not, you might need to skip that plugin or find an alternative plugin that does something similar.

No, has nothing to do with critical plug ins, already checked...

Sluggish feel was also in there versions before...
Last Version which worked snappy was 2021.3 - with same Setup

Since many folks report pretty good GUI speeds in Protools 2022.5, there must be something else causing this on your system. I wonder if others using OpenCore can report their GUI performance results. I know you said you checked plugins. Was that just checking the manufacturers website or did you actually move them out to the unused folder and relaunch to see? If all else fails, it might be time to do a fresh clean install of the OS and Protools and test BEFORE installing any third party plugins.

We are not seeing any graphics slowdown on either of our iMacs with PT Studio 2022.5, in fact, we are seeing a little better graphics performance with PT Studio 2022.5 on our 2020 iMac.

Well, I double-checked, removing all non Avid PlugIns, no difference...
still cursor line stuttering, when you have some tracks on, all DSP, non VI.

Same Session under 2021.3.1 - no problem...
By the way, BigSur was installed clean and also ProTools. Never make upgrades from oder systems...

Question to all OpenCore Users... anyone a clue?
It has nothing to do with the GPU, as I had a Radeon 580 here to check that...

Strange...

Will try to install Monterey on a new volume...

I wonder if it is something unique to 5,1 Mac pro’s. I’ve been running into many gui issues, especially sluggishness with several of the latest pt releases. I have a 580 card as well.

I've had GUI issues with 6,1 for a long time. Only with certain apps/plugs though.
