Default Melodyne Question

Hi folks:

Does Melodyne using ARA2 now work like like elastic audio where it will be on every playlist (if selected to do so)?

If so, when comping takes, does it just go along with the part? I've been using the plugin for many years and one drawback is constantly needing to re-record parts into the plugin if I need to switch out from another take.

Thanks in advance.

You must have missed the "ARA Melodyne hack" you could have been using until now. Personally, I still use this trick while the new method is getting debugged.

It depends what version of Pro Tools and whether the track is sample based or tick based. In the latest (2023.3), if it is tick based, it will automatically analyze every clip on the main track (not sure it if will analyze everything in the playlists too) into Melodyne. If it is sample based, the first time you switch it on, I believe it analyzes all clips on the main playlist. If you move clips to playlists that have been analyzed with Melodyne, Melodyne follows that clip into the playlists.

Thanks. Usually I have the main comp done but there are always last minute drop ins that make life a bit more difficult. I need to get new Mac to be able to use 2023.3. I would also hope that the newer Macs create the files needed by Melodyne more quickly than my old 5,1 cheesegrater.
