Default I returned my 001, now what is the best replacement?

After becoming frustrated with the 001's lack of compatibility with any other software programs or PC hardware, I decided to return it today. Once again, I am in the market for a DAW. Any suggestions? MOTU? Delta 1010?
Thanks.

check out motu, www.motu.com
motu has great quality

also you can get a delta 1010 on the cheap here, www.bayviewproaudio.com

the layla24 is also sposed to be pretty good.im a motu fan myself, but the delta 1010 price at bayview is a wonder.
(btw, i dont work for them im just amazed at their prices)

peace,
robert

Thanks for the tips. So it looks like I am either going with the MOTU, Delta1010, or Layla24. They all seem to be extremely similar systems... which one is better? And why is it better? Will I get lower latency or better compatibility with MOTU or something?

Thanks again

That would be two units of 001.

I love my Delta 1010. So much so that my Digi 001's breakout box cable has been disconnected from the PCI card for 3 months.

I have been having alot of problem's with the 001. I question whether it is really as capable as it claims. I built a computer just for the 001. I had an intel 815eea motherboard with 256m of ram a 733 P3 processor and two ata 100 drives . All the techs from DIGI can't figure out why it doesn't sream. But I still had problems with edits. So I am having my computer rebuilt with older MB 440bx P3 850. this has a slower hard disk controller wich DIGI said was part of my problem. TOO FAST go figure.... If you have any luck with the LAYLA please respond. I may just return my 001.

I highly recommend MOTU. They have excellent customer service, unlike another company that I won't mention, but whose name starts with the letter Digidesign. Oops, did I say that? Also, my experience with MOTU based systems in the past has shown incredibly low latency and high compatibility with various audio hardware and software.

(I should add that I happen to be a serious Pro Tools user. I think it's second to none when it works properly, but it's just a pain in the a## to set up the first time.)

I would get a mac and a 001, sample editing is easy, i dont know what some are talking about, but abviously you had no luck with it. I know 2 different people who own MOTU boxes and wish they had bought the double ooh one. People have different needs, I would not get sour because you had bad luck with a PC, it was originally made for mac, although it also supports PC, there is too many variations of PCs for all to get it to work.

...."it was originally made for mac, although it also supports PC, there is too many variations of PCs for all to get it to work."

That's like saying there are too many variables involved in trying to get to your place of work; there's north, south, east and west...it's too confusing...

Digi clearly specified which PC configurations will work with the PTLE/001 and which configurations will likely not work. If you follow their directions you will have success running PTLE/001 on your PC. Of course there have been a few exceptions to that and Digi tech support has developed solutions for those special cases.

If you don't follow their directions, it may not work. You can't blame digi or your PC for that.
