Default Chorus sounds like a Univibe?

Anyone else have this experience? When I dial the chorus in, it sounds kinda univibe-ish to me. I'll post an example tonight when I'm home with the unit. If you have heard this, what did you do to make it right?

I'm happy with most every other effect in the unit except for this one.

The C1. I have it set to chorus, not vibrato. I'd hoped to get some recording in tonight to illustrate, but it isn't happening. Will try again at lunch tomorrow.

I have discovered that if you are running your rig in stereo using XLRs out, but forget to turn on one of your speakers, the chorus can make things sound quite funky. I probably spent an hour one night trying to figure out why my guitar was sounding so awful with the chorus turned on, but fine with it off.

hmmmm....I wonder if it's a problem where I have an output running stereo where it should be mono. I will check that.

The CE-1 isn't really supposed to be ran in stereo either if I am correct. It sounds right before your amp, not after.

Here's a quote from one of the Avid guys on another forum:

"The C1 Chorus functions in stereo just like the original Boss CE-1 we based it on. However, you have to apply it after the amp & cab to take advantage of the stereo function. All processing upstream of the amp is mono."
