Quantize
I'm working on the Digi 001 in midi production I know it does't quantize that
well for hip-hop, does anyone know any good quantizing tricks or tips to get it to quantize any better HELP. |

You're right, there aren't any 'groovey' quantise templates....
To add a bit of syncopation, apply some swing to the entire pattern. Works well with creating that funky 'house' sound as well as 'hip hop'. Note that as the tempo speeds up the 'groove' tends to be lost a little. Another idea... try nudging the back-beat snare (ie the one that falls on beats '2' and '4') backwards in time a few clicks.... so that it sounds just prior to the actual beat. A lot of 'quantise-templates' also apply volume changes to certain drum sounds in order to create accents. You may wish to experiment with this as well. I expect that as the MIDI side of PT is expanded, additional quantising features will be added. Merry Music Making! Phil
