Default Error 6086

Hi folks,

So the dreaded Error 6086 has been showing up since I upgraded to PT 7. I researched and found out that it could have something to do with chipset compatibility. I have an Intel i945PM chipset and I'm wondering if this is the problem. I just don't understand how I was doing fine on PT 6 and yet now it's crapping out on me. HELP!!

Going from 6? Which 6 are we talking about. If its pre 6.4cs9, are you still running XP with SP1? Time to update to SP2 for sure. Also, check to see if your drives are operating in DMA mode as I seem to remember that error often relates to drives running in PIO mode. If this doesn't help, come back with your full specs and see if someone else can offer some better ideas.

I have a Dell inspiron duo core 1.8, 2 G, 5400 Hard Drive, Chipset Intel i945PM, Running PT 7.3. I upgraded to Pro tools 7 recently and that's when I'm pretty sure I started getting the error. I did some research and found out that it might be the chipset that's not Compatible. But i'm just wondering why it's compatible with PT 6 and not PT 7. MUZEIX...check what chipset you have - you can download PC Wizard 2008...that's what I did. If your chipset's not compatible...then you're screwed...hate to say it...that's what I'm worried about right now.

Yeah i'm prob going to down grade to PT 6 and try to live with that...The main problem though is that i can only use one processor when I record...so everytime I have to go into my bios and turn one off. Hey muzeix, I'm gonna try and find a chipset compatibility list from digidesign, it'd be great you could help out with that..

How can you consider migrating,

with Pro Tools being the industry standard and what not?!
