Default Dr. Groove Problems/drum machines in gen.

I have a dr. groove that I work up drum lines on, but when I go to record theres just too much noise. Not only on mine but on other peoples drum machines. I dont know what to do, Ive tried all that I can, and even took it to the local music shop. It didnt seem that bad there, but they couldnt offer a solution. Also in pro tools is there a way to record midi from a drum machine thats synced via midi thru from the keyboard thats synced to pro tools beat clock. I can record midi from my keyboard fine but I dont know if theres even a way to record midi from the dr. groove thas synced to my keyboard.

thanks

Yeah, I have the Dr. Groove SP-202. It is a little noisy, but I still use it because it has some really great sounds. In fact, between all of the groove boxes on the market, it got rated #1 in the low frequecy category and in the most bang for your buck category.

I usually record with the master volume knob at the 3'oclock position for the best signal-to-noise ratio. And usually when you mix it in with other tracks the noise becomes a lot less noticable.

I haven't used it in quite a while, but as far as midi capability goes, it can only send out 3 midi channels (one for bass, one for drums, and one for "external" in case you are triggering a sampler or something). If you wish to record each drum separately, you have to manually go through and mute all drums except the one that you are recording. You can get the box to do about anything you want it to, but it just takes a little more time the the ones that cost a million times more.
