Default Windows 7 won't 'wake up' after 8.0.3cs

Hey Gang

The issue dujour

When operating ProTools MPowered 8.0.3cs, I close ProTools, and put the PC into sleep mode.
When trying to wake up, the PC powers on, but I just get flashing cursor.
Powering down the PC and restarting brings up chkdsk.

This is a new 'feature' since upgrading to MPowered 8.0.3cs

I suspect it may be a driver issue? Have not messed with any wake up settings in bios.

Any ideas?

Windows 7 64bit Home premium
AMD black 3.2
4 gigs ram
MPowered 8.0.3cs

Thanks
Joe

Correct, all energy saving features and sleep mode must be disabled to run PT.

Hm, Not having any major problems but Julia and Tom mentioning that you should disable the sleep mode and other energy saving options makes me wonder a bit about my setup.. From time to time MP 8.0.3 for no reason I know, will stop responding, and I'll have to wait awhile until I begins responding again. I have a new laptop,Windows 7, 6 gig ram, IE 8 and I know I haven't done anything about disabling much of anything.. Is it easy to direct as to where I should go in order to do some disabling? Thanks

The setup guide that came with your box has clear instructions on page 27: "Optimizing a Windows System for Pro Tools". Though mine doesn't include W7, the basics are the same.

If you don't have it, I'm sure you can find it on the Avid site.

Ok thanks everyone for your input. I am no longer putting the machine to sleep. Although "optimizing" and "do this or your PC will fail" seems like two different categories...on to the next issue

I just want to point out that as a old time user (PTs 5, SD-2, etc) on the 001 with the Blue & White G-3 sleep worked perfectly. I could work late, leave PTs open (save it) and bring the finder to front, set it to sleep. Never a hiccup. Wake it up next evening get back to work.

However. Same PCI card same PTs on a G-4 (altivec) no more sleep. Errors began appearing. If I leave DAE open and sleep it I have to force restart.

But this is a PCI card. Now the firewire interfaces will prevent sleep as well?

How come it worked perfectly on the G-3 chip, Audiomedia II card and PCI 001 card and then suddenly stopped working on the G-4? I don't buy it. I think it is a bug, some code to update alterations Apple made, not dealt with, and this 'not put to sleep' is a work around. Ditto for W-7s. My .02

FYIW PTs 5 will allow hard disk sleep and screen sleep with PTs open and mutliple hard drives on System 9 /G-4 and wake up only the drives that are called into service.
