I have Kontakt7 and it works better than Kontakt has ever worked.

Agreed. V7 has been excellent. Smoothest/fastest ever.

I'd still like an AAX-Native version of V6 so I can open existing sessions. So many of them have 6 and there's no easy way to migrate them up to 7.

edit: I suppose I could save the Multis in V6 and open them in V7... haven't tried it but it should work. This is still not an "easy" way to migrate, especially when there are many instances of Kontakt 6.

Yes. Who was the braniac who decided that K7 plugin is named differently than K6, just asking... because that person would deserve some spanking.

If you look at their support page here (updated March 31):
https://support.native-instruments.c...991.1680469199

it shows that Kontakt 6 is now "Natively compatible with Apple Silicon" BUT it does not have the asterisk next to it (which Kontakt 7 DOES), which indicates (when you look down for it) "*Native Pro Tools / AAX plug-in support on Apple Silicon. For more info, visit this Avid page."

So, Kontakt 6 is not (presently) Native Silicon AAX compatible.

I'm willing to bet that's the case with most of the other instruments. I had to update to the very latest versions of everything to get them to show up in PT Silicon Native (as of last week, anyway).
Ah, got it. Bad marketing indeed. Thanks for the clarification.

Agree with above that it'd be great if these things were just backwards compatible to some degree. I have K7, but of course a million K6 sessions as well.

Thanks guys.

I was disheartened by this, too.

They must have done so so that you can have multiple versions present at the same time. In that regard, I'm kinda happy to have separate names for each version, because at the moment I have (and actually use) K5, K6 and K7.

Thanks buddy! I missed this, but am pretty much on K7 at this point, trying to get all my presets copied over to K7 which is a hassle.

It is a hassle and a half actually!

And someone mentioned a spanking for the NI people responsible? When is that?

A NI made converter would be convenient...

There must be a way to trick ProTools into opening K7 when it sees earlier instances of Kontakt. We know that K7 can open older instruments/multis. This would allow us to easily migrate from earlier versions of Kontakt into V7.

It's not as simple as changing the name of the AAX plugin, but should be possible with some deeper tweaks.

NI should provide such tools.
