Default Recording latency question

I've got a session up and playback engine buffer set at 64.. It's PT 11.3.1 by the way. I've disables all plugs because even at the lowest playback level, I've still got latency problems when recording vocals. It seems there's still a delay running somewhere but I don't have any tracks hidden. I'm a little perplexed. Does anyone have any thoughts? Thank you so much,RichrdC

Have you tried to uncheck 'delay compensation' in the options menu ?

In some instances, this may help.

I get it too - 11.3.1 - i can get away with a couple of plugs but if I start adding more I get latency. It helps if I don't use aux tracks. But I try to do the session recording wise then mixing/adding plugs 2nd. I know it's difficult cuz I forget sometimes. Delay compensation helps when there are plugs but just turning it off does nothing at that point.

Isn't a problem on my HDN system. Which interface are you using?

Probably yes, but what it is cannot be resolved with this little information.

I have success monitoring 256 buffer at 48k, for the pickier artists 128 is always fine. If there is a latency problem having 64 buffer, the problem is surely somewhere else than the buffer setting.

Richard, try bussing the the main out of the record tracking to the main output path. IE: not to an aux sub group. I find this helps.

Does your MIX window show the delay numbers? What is it showing? I am getting this same issue on random sessions. The worst plugin loaded shows 7 samples of latency, but several tracks are reporting 2048(plus or minus) samples of compensation for no apparent reason. I turn Delay Compensation off and go about tracking without issue, but it certainly is annoying, and makes no sense. Glad I'm not the only one

HD/Native with dual HD IO. All sessions are 24 bit/48K. Already checked for hidden tracks

If any track reports more latency than playback buffer, there is a plugin to be removed

Update,

Thanks for the thoughts.. Nothing I do seems to matter. I've tried all the suggestions and thanks so much. For a duffer like me it's great to read and work with your possibilities. To me it sounds like the Time Adjusting Delay plug but I don't have a delay on the session.

Albee, Your question about my mix window showing the delay...? I'd love to know where to look in order to tell you..

I couldn't tell any difference with the Delay Compensation checked or not..

I haven't noticed this in other sessions, but I can't say it doesn't happen.

Thanks everyone
