Hi all,

Just posting to help others who might come across this issue in the future.

After a bit of troubleshooting, I managed to get to the root cause.

The windows folder: C:\Program Files\Avid\Pro Tools\Codecs\MP3 was corrupted... I wasn't even able to delete that folder through the command prompt. I was unable to uninstall pro tools because of it... The installer would try to remove that folder and it would come up with an error.

I renamed the "codecs" corrupted folder, then uninstalled pro tools, reinstalled pro tools, and during the reinstall, It created a new mp3.dll file.

If you find you are getting this error and the codecs folder has not been corrupted, try removing the file from C:\Program Files\Avid\Pro Tools\Codecs\MP3 and replacing it with this: https://community.avid.com/members/p...2900_.zip.aspx

On a separate note I got this response from support:

Hi Philip

I hope this email finds you well,

Please try the following and let us know if it helps:

Download the attached MP3.dll file

Go to C: Program Files > Avid > Pro Tools > Codecs > Mp3 > delete Mp3.dll

Drag and drop the Mp3.dll to the Mp3 folder

If the persists, please:

- Set Pro Tools to Run as Administrator
- Right-click on the Pro Tools icon on your desktop, then click on Properties. Go to the Compatibility tab, and tick the box for Run this program as an administrator. Click Apply, then OK to implement the changes. And try again.

If the problem persists please continue with:

-Uninstall Pro Tools from Programs and Features > Uninstall or change Program

-Rename or delete the Pro Tools folder from C:\Program Files\Avid\Pro Tools

-Reinstall PT 22.4 https://cdn.avid.com/ProTools/2022.4...2022.4_Win.zip

Let us know how everything goes,
