We've not officially qualified the machine yet but will be doing so in short order.

At face value there are no known issues that would prevent qualification at this time, but we obviously need to run it through the compatibility and performance grid.

We'll update this page as soon as we've officially tested it.

Thank you very much for your feedback. I will be receiving the new Mac Pro M2 Ultra within 10 days. I would like to start post-production with this new machine in July. Do you think it would be possible to install my two HDX cards now and run it with the current version of protools or would I have to wait for an update of the HD driver and/or firmware on the HDX cards?
As with the 2019 model, do I need to extend the power supply to the two cards using an 8pin to dual 6 pin cable?
For an HDX 2 station it seems to me that slots 5 and 6 (below the HDMI outputs provided by Apple) are the most suitable for HDX cards, can you confirm this?

Thank you for your attention and advice on this subject.

Sincerely

Samuel

I just recieved my Mac Pro 2023. It's a beast ;-)

I'm installing all software now and add the HDX card later this week. Installing software goes amazing fast ! way faster than my good old Mac Pro Trashcan ;-)

For HDX Slot 5 should be the one.

I think if you want to add 2 HDX cards you'll need the Belkin AUX power cable kit for Mac Pro. I'll check this out later

You don't need the Belkin kit unless using the lower slots. The upper slots have a power point that fits the standard power cable that came with (later) HDX cards.

I think the risk is low to move forward with your install. We've already done some preliminary and successful testing with Apple, but we've not run it through all the steps to give it an official green light.

I just finished setting up an M2 Mac Studio Ultra with HD Native / Omni. I have the HD Native, as well as a UAD and USB3 cards installed in an old TB2 Nestor 3 slot PCIe chassis.

Everything is running great on OS 13.4 / 2023.6.

FYI, those Nestor chassis represent a great value. 3 full length slots and silent. The are essentially OEM Magma EB3T Express Box's for less money.
