Default The computer is quad core but PT sees 8?

Hi,
I decided to get a macbook pro dedicated to record audio and I got a used one (february 2011) with intel i7 quad core 2.0ghz with OSX 10.7.5 (Lion). I installed Pro Tools version 10.0.0 since I didn't have internet connection at the time, only the cd I bought. When I opened PT to configure it showed 8 processors, how come? Did the previous user did the hyper threading? It's just a random question, because it worked flawlessly the whole weekend, recording 32 tracks of audio and sending them back.

since it is i7 you will have hyper threading hence pro tools will see 8 cores as opposed to 4.

Tis a good thing

Yeah, I thought so. I allowed 7 processors for PT to work and never had any problem, except one error that the disk was too slow, but this was my fault since I was recording to a firewire hard drive.

Firewire is fine as long as the drive is 7200RPM+
