If it's really 1,000 to upgrade from HD 9 to 10 then I can't make it happen.

You say it's wasted, I say it's an investment. Our opinion diverges here, but they have made great improvement that is worth my upgrade. Maybe not for you, but for me yes.

Does Pro Tools HDX support ADC 16383 Samples?

My thoughts on this are if it's $999 to upgrade the software, the hardware trade-in on the HD cards needs to be very generous.

Wouldn't it be on or AFTER 10/1/11?
I should have crossgraded to PT 9 earlier today. I knew this would happen. Or would this have even been free for crossgraders?

Does that also go for those of us who purchased the Academic version months ago? We should receive the email within a week or so? Or should we contact someone? Or will it just appear in our download list in our Avid Master Account?

Yes - HDX, HD Native and standard Pro Tools (with Core Audio or ASIO interfaces) support the higher ADC compensation.

TDM HD PCI and PCIe cards won't, though, as the cards do not have the necessary chips to support it.

Students qualify for 4 years of free upgrades. Assuming you qualify (and I'm not the one that is making that determination here), the upgrade info will be sent to you in an email within a week or two.
