Default Stretching a track while keeping pitch

Hello, Forum;

I have a situation where I'd like to stretch an audio track (lead guitar) but want to keep the pitch constant . Problem is, my particular familiarity curve isn't quite there yet and I need to get this resolved fairly quickly. Any ideas, suggestions, pointers, etc?

Thanks!

Cayce

The best sounding plug-in for doing this is Serato Pitch 'N Time. But it will still sound bad if you try and stretch it a lot.

Ok.... thanks, DMK.

I checked it out and, for right now, it's a little over the top for what I'm trying to do, which is to slow down some ultra-fast lead segments from diffferent guitarists so I can begin learning them at a slower than normal rate, but having them still be in original pitch. What ever I use doesn't need to be of high-end post-production quality. Any suggestions of something more affordable (Sweetwater's asking 730.00 for the Serato plugin)? I was really hoping to find something in the ProTools app that would accomodate this.

Thanks again for your help.

Cayce

you can use digidesigns timestretch audiosuite to get the effect you need.

ps. tip. you can always pitch the track down -12 semitones or even -24 semitones and it will be very slow and an exact octave or two below the notes you are trying to play along to.

Shift-spacebar will play a session at half speed.

If you're just doing it to learn songs, try the "Amzing Slow Downer"....pretty cool program.

As mentioned, the stock Digidesign TCE tool could work, though I find the quality quite poor. Simply click and hold the trim tool and select the TCE option. From there, just highlight the end of the region to compress or expand it.

Alternatively, there's Ableton Live, which would not only do what you need, but is a powerful tool to have in your composing arsenal for future projects.

Playing at half-speed (shift + spacebar) is probably your best option at this stage, I would try that first.
