Default Extract Midi from Kick Track.

Is there a way to do it in PT w/o picking up low snare bleed as notes?
Logic Pro does it flawlessly and fast.
Thanks in advance

Expander/Gain and Channel strip can do these for the bleeds.
I've also seen some AI powered gate plugins but have not tried these yet.

Logic gates and emulates velocity w single key stroke like a charm, I just hate going back and fordward. I guess I'm old and lazy.

I would duplicate the kick track(mute the original) and then use Strip Silence to clear all the bleed. It won't matter if it ends up sounding horrid as you only need the transients to create the midi track. Another option would be to insert a Gate plugin, but you would need to commit that(which would end up much the same as using Strip Silence).

One more option that I have used, create the midi track from the original audio track(with the bleed). Then, on the midi track, set the track view to add a lane for Velocity. Since all the bleed notes will be much lower in velocity, you can click/drag to select all the low-volume notes and then delete them.

Before tedious manual work, you may as well start with an Audio to MIDI conversion from the Melodyne percussive algorithm and you can go from there if it's close enough. There's a few ways to do it.

What I describe is just for this exact purpose. Its a way to clean off bleed from the audio so you don't end up with dozens(or hundreds) of false midi notes(which I also describe how to remove)

Massey DRT used to do this with minimal fuss. I think it is free unless you need advanced features. There are even tutorials on the page.

Hey Albee. You are correct. Strip silence would probably be fairly quick and easy in this case aid the accuracy of the Melodyne conversion. Maybe even easier to use Option Y to bring up the select/split notes dialog to select the erroneous triggers from there as opposed to click and drag over a long passage :) !

Slate Trigger. Capture Midi feature. Works flawlessly 99.9% of the time. Pretty much the only Slate product I use. Learn how to dial in Trigger (sensitivity, detail, retrigger - sometimes I even have to automate these to make the capture flawless) and it will make your life easier for this. I use it to augment and/or replace drums with samples.

Logic makes everyone think stuff is supposed to be easy and automatic. Pro Tools is powerful, just learn how to tweak and use it to its most. Or switch to Logic.

If it's easy... that many more people just do the same generic thing.
