I'm on Sonoma 14.4. Didn't happen before 2024.3.

Thanks.
Yep, same bug here.

It's really annoying and make the important transparency feature practically useless.

My system has become useless since 14.4 came out.

I'm so frustrated with how brittle this app & ecosystem are. Is it AVID? Is it PACE? Does it matter?

Yes yes I know - I should freeze a working system in Amber until some vaguely defined tipping-point is reached then back everything up (again), install the updates on an external etc etc.

It's 2024 - this level of fragility is ridiculous.

From what I ready, this is an iLok problem affecting more than just Pro Tools users. What we wouldn't normally expect is an incremental OS update with security patches to break everything.

Does temporarily setting your DAW and the iLok License Manager application to run in Rosetta mode fix the issue?

Running in Rosetta does not change anything.

Some sessions will playback for a 1 - 2 bars then hang, some won't open at all, some very basic sessions will play.

The *only* thing that has changed is the 14.4 update.

I get it - if you depend on a stable system for your livelihood then freeze it in amber and update only when you have time and backups ready etc.

I need my computer for other things and when I steal precious time to work on music it is so deflating to be denied.

Oracle is reporting that 14.4 broke JAVA, so i would not be surprised if it also breaks PT. Apparently they have done some very low level changes lately.

Did you run iLok License app in Rosetta too, as this is reported as working on the Universal Audio site.

Ah. That I did not do.

Do you mean run the iLok app in Rosetta while running PT (in Rosetta as well)?
How does one run "Pace" in Rosetta?

- Quit all music-related applications such as your DAW and iLok License Manager.
- Navigate to the Applications folder and find your iLok License Manager application.
- Right-click (or Control + Click) the applications and choose Get Info.
- In the Info window that opens, look for the Open using Rosetta option and enable it.

After doing this you need to restart the machine, or the login items won't get started under Rosetta.
