Unhappy New firewire card won't read 003!!

I just installed a new firewire card with a Texas Instrument chipest. It works fine. But now it won't recognise my 003. Anyone know how to get it to work??? I'm assuming it's something to do with drivers but not sure. I'm running windows 7 64bit. It was working (sort of) with my onboard VIA chipset firewire card. It was just crashing, hence the new firewire card. But I'm not sure if I have to re-install Pro Tools 8 all over again. Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!!!

Are you on 8.0.3 with 8.0.4b beta drivers?
This beta driver (read installation notes carefully) is the only way to make PT work with windows 7 64, and even so some users are having problems. You might be one of them.

No official support for Windows 7 yet

Yes. I have both. And my system was working until I installed the new firewire card. Just not sure if there's something i have to do to enable the new card to read the 003? Do you think reinstalling the new drivers would work?

1st, I must ask what card is it?

You say it works fine, do you mean with other gear like FW harddrives?

If you pull it out does the system go back to the way it was before you installed it?

It's a Startech IEEE-1394b Firewire 800 PCI Card. Fully backward compatible with 1394a devices. It has TI chipsets. Yes, it works with hard drives etc. My system does go back to normal with it removed.

ok. that rules out a corrupted install. so no need to reinstall IMO.

I had a non working FW 800 card a while back, but I have no experience with the Startech. Still I believe you will have better luck with a qualified FW 400 card.

I could not get the TI 800 card to work well with PT, but all of the TI 400 cards that I have tried have worked for me. Good luck.

Annoying!!! The reason I have this card is it seems next to impossible to find a TI 400 card in Cnada. I found a "tested" card for sale in England, but they do not ship to US and Canada. Any idea where I might find a TI 400 card? I have no problem returning this card and getting a 400. Just don't know where

SIIG FireWire PCI Card at Sweetwater http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/FWCardPCI/ still available. Just got one shipped to Switzerland and works fine, though shipping charges are high for here. Canada will be a lot better.

Thanks! Will have to give a try. I reinstalled everything to do with Pro Tools and tried to get the computer to recognise the 003 anywhich way but nothing worked. Connected the 003 to my original firewire card and it instantly recognised it.
