Default ? about disk allocation/drive permission

Odd problem I can't figure out. I took an old session off a back up HD, imported to my M1 iMac. Worked on mixing the tune for awhile with no problems. Then I tried to print my mix (inside PT) and got the error message saying "Unable to create record files for one or more tracks. Check your disk allocation and drive permission". I tried consolidating my tracks and got the same message. So I exported all my clips to my desktop, made a new session, imported them, reassembled my tracks, imported all my session data. In the new session it let me consolidate my tracks (at first). I re-tweaked my mix and pressed record. Same message! Somehow this problem came along with the tracks into a new session and after it let me consolidate tracks it had previously disallowed. Where the heck is this coming from and can I fix it so I can print a mix of this song?

Start with the most basic stuff, what owner, group and UNIX file permissions are all the file/folders you are using. It's super easy to grab old sessions, especially those created by a different userid that will have ownership/permission problems, and I'm not sure what error messages you can potentially see.

The error occurred when the op “pressed record,” which makes me think that setting his desktop or HD as a Record volume (not Playback or Transfer) in a PT Workspace window might be the fix.

Thanks for your help, I've got it figured out. When I looked at "disc allocation" in the drop down menu two of the tracks in my session were allocated to some mystery "Pro Tools 7" place. I changed those to match the other tracks, which were being sent to my Mac HD as they should be. Voila! Now it works.

Thanks for your suggestions about places to look, things to try. Although I've used PT for years, I know how to do a few things well (mostly record and mix audio) and there are tons of things that are mysterious to me, but I gradually learn new things here and there and this forum is invaluble in pointing me in directions I don't come up with on my own. Thanks again...oj
