can I buy a spare ilok ?

Hi there,

I use pro tools m powered with my ilok stick on my iMac. lets say I wanna use Pro tools with my portable mobile pre as well on my laptop... can I buy a spare ilok key and transfer the codes from my original one ? just to avoid losing the main one when I travel and record outdoors...
sorry about the question but I still don't get the whole licensing thing sometimes !

Any license that you own can only exist on ONE ilok at a time. You can buy another ilok and transfer a license onto it from your other ilok but it will then only exist on the new ilok so there's not much point.

No. That would defeat the whole purpose.

If your really worried about something happening to your iLok you can always purchase their "zero downtime" coverage.

One license on one iLok at one time....


btw: the only beef I've ever had with iLok is having no way to delete demo licenses...
