I have them so if I run into a problem I can go back. Also if someone else is having a problem I can test here in earlier versions. I have PT 2019.6, 2020.12, 2021.3.1 and 2019.6 Also they don't take up that much space anyways. 2019.6 is a touch over 2 gig and the 2020 and 2021 versions are only around 3 gig each. I have a 1TB ssd as my system drive and only am using roughly 250 gig of that so I have room aplenty.

No problems with the gui in OSX 10.13.6 - and that's an unsupported config so you'd think if anyone would have problems that would be the factor and it ain't. And as some people here would know I've quite the amount of color file mods. The gui customization has always been available for for those willing to have the guts and knowledge to dig in and make the changes.

I run 64GiB of ram and the legginess, sluggishness, choppy sliders, fader movements, choppy meter movements.

I went back to 2021.3 and am for the better for now. I opened. a case with Avid.

Same here.

We've filled 4 cards. (We've had 6 card systems running -- yes, that works; tapped into using the 6th card before too but that was on HDX only)
You have to know how audio post-production audio works. There's a reason we have the big, most-expanded systems.

To be fair, I do know how post production works, it's what I do for a living.
I can see how you can need the cards still for I/O expansion for Atmos maybe.
Although with the extra voices from this release, Native will be easily able to do Atmos too. For straight HDX systems as they were, fair enough, 6 cards maybe.

With the Hybrid engine a lot of your HDX card setup can run on the host computer.
I run very large film sessions on Native already with the 2019 Mac Pro 16 core.
When the M2, or whatever they'll be called, chips come out, we'll be able to run even bigger ones.
Just intrigued what people will use the DSP chips for, apart from low latency monitoring?

I think dsp is for music folks. People who need to record people. Drop in an overdub after your mix is almost finished etc.... post I'd imagine you just happily use the extra voices without addition costs.

The increased I/O limits for vanilla and non hardware Ultimate are going to be a welcome addition. Now I can record live events as a fully redundant system with Protools Ultimate HDN and Protools vanilla using DVS and have full track count, and Satellite connection.

Going to be a game changer for me.

All good until I tried to record a vocal & the artist had a delay in their headphones - (cues 1).
I toggled delay comp in case it was that old bug reoccurring...
No go.

Had to revert to 2021.3.1

I guess the engine was a big rewrite. Unfortunately, that's a showstopper bug.

OSX Mojave, MacPro2012, HDX1, 2 x 888, 32gb

Oh nooooooo!!!!

The audio engine is/was one of the best things of pro tools together with the classic GUI....I really hope this is not going south...we'll see.
