From the (red) compability link above.

Both the model of MacBook and OS are currently unsupported. Tiger 10.4.9 is the last qualified OS and 10.5 is currently being tested.

If I'm not mistaken, 7.1 won't work with the new Intel Core 2 Duo macbooks, but 7.3 will work fine. Also many people have gotten 7.3 to work with leopard, it's just not official yet. I am running on 10.4.10 and it's working completely fine.

USB audio interfaces need to be plugged into the correct USB port on the MacBook -

Digidesign support says:
Due to internal USB architecture issues on the MacBook, use of Digidesign, M-Audio, or third-party USB audio devices is supported on the front USB port only (the port farthest away from the screen).

I just tried to setup PTLE with an Mbox 2 mini on my girlfriend's new Macbook Pro and no dice. System Profiler shows the USB connection, but Core Audio doesn't see the Mbox. And the preferences pane delivers a popup that says something about 'not compatible with an Intel system'. Anybody know if this will be addressed or is being addressed?

Best, Marcel

Digidesign recommends that the left USB port is used to connect a USB audio interface to the MacBook Pro.

Digidesign:
Due to internal USB architecture issues on the MacBook Pro, use of Digidesign, M-Audio, or third-party USB audio devices is supported on the left-hand USB ports only (the port or ports next to the power adapter cable).

See:

Hope this helps your problem.

Thanks, Richard. I read your post and am using the recommended USB port. Downloaded new firmware. The USB light on the Mbox will not light either. I had assumed that was to show that supply power was being received from the USB connection only, and so was expecting it to light regardless of driver or firmware issues.

I am well aware that 7.1 may not work with Leopard on a Core 2 Duo machine, but without being able to authorize the software due to this issue, I can't even find out.

Leopard. So many issues.

Thanks again.

Best, Marcel
