Default Mbox: Pitch Control? Not In Manual?

My computer (PC) locked up for a few minutes because I was stupid and had other programs running while running PT LE.

When I shut down those programs I resumed my PT session and the PLAYBACK mysteriously SPED UP! And it sounds great sped up. I laways used to speed up my playbacks because my voice sounded better. This was no problem on analog or digital tape recorders.

But I have not found any kind of PITCH CONTROL on PT LE...and I am blown away that PT wouldn't have such a feature.

Is something wrong with my PT session? Is there an error I don't see? Does PT LE have a pitch control that I stumbled on?

In the crash, your sample rate for the session got changed from 44.1 to 48. reset the sample rate for the session and your song will sound bad again

Andras, he prefers the sped up version. I thought I was kind by agreeing with him. BTW - coming to Mtl for some warm Guinness? Give me a call.

OK thanks! I would never have looked at that.

However, isn't it strange that PT's pitch control is only for MIDI? I mean in terms of MIDID that makes sense. But I am recording audio and if the analog recorders can do it I wonder why PT LE can't?

It just seems like a MAJOR tool, especially for hard-to-reach vocals, for them to miss (if in fact it is possible to be written to such a software program.)

krsongs,
It isn't quite as simple to varispeed a DAW. We all have experience of doing that in the analog domain, sure.
Digital audio deals with time slices, that have to be controlled across the whole system in sync.
The only way I know of doing it is by the use of an external WC generator with variable "pitch" control. That is how audio for video post production works, where the master machine's TC supplies the time base for the entire setup, and all members are resolving their sampling rate via their WC inputs.
I'd imagine it would be possible to send ADAT optical clock to an LE system controlled by a BRC driven Adat recorder.
good luck,

Try the Di-Fi plug-ins.

I don't know what scares me most.
The fact that you were completely unaware that it was an obvious sample rate change problem,
or the way you actually enjoyed more the screwed up track.
