Clicks & Pops

Hi. new to the forum so please be gentle. I have started to get awful clicks and pops on my system on playback and bounce down. It doesn't seem to be recording them though. I am using mac G5 2 Ghz power pc with osx 10.4.11 and 6.5 GB ram, mbox 2 with le 7.4.

I have Downloaded the latest update from the digi website, I have trashed preference folders using Pro Tools preference and database helper. I have repaired disk permissions, tried recording to a different hard drive, loaded up old sessions, booted up from my back up drive and nothing seems to help. I have checked that my system preferences are set according to digi-design recommendations and tried all sorts of different settings in the playback engine window. Nothing has changed on my system, I hadn't used it for a few weeks then swapped my room layout and now this! Please help.....

Do you have any other device attached(specifically looking for any digital audio connections with external preamps or converters)? If so, it may be a clocking issue.
