Help!! My pencil must be out of lead

How do I actually get the pencil to do something. I got my head in the ref guide but I don't get it. All that I am able to do is select the pencil. I can move the pencil everywhere in the track; but like I said it acts like it has no lead he...he [img]images/icons/confused.gif[/img]

By the way, I have the Mbox [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img]

what are you trying to do with the pencil?

it can be used on audio to change a waveform. you have to be zoomed in all the way so you can see the waveform as a line (as opposed to a block). warning! pencil changes to the waveform are DESTRUCTIVE edits.

you can pencil in midi notes as well. midi tracks have to be in notes view to do that.

don't forget to press the mouse button when you're using it or there will be no lead... [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img]

In automation, you can draw your volume's, fades,pan's

You have to be in 'automation mode' - rather than 'waveform' selected on the track, you should select 'volume', 'pan' or whatever other automation you want to edit with the pencil.

make sure you sre zoomed in far enough.Keep zooming until the pencil works.

Yes I had the mouse button pressed. [img]images/icons/frown.gif[/img] As to what am I trying to do? At this point I am tring to experiment with it, so anything will do.
