Not Mixing until i am a half second into the audio clip?

Hello there.

I am running FCP 7.03 with AVID artist Panel. All the Automation works except that when I play the timeline and try to do a live audio mix, the clip in the timeline doesn't pick up where my fader is set to, on the panel, until I am about half a second into it the clip. It doesn't recognise what level I am holding the fader at until I am already well into the body of the clip.

IF I wiggle the fader as it runs upto the clip it sometimes sets the level but this is obviously not a good work around long term.

Any Thoughts?
