Cannot get sound from 003

Anybody please. PT recognizes the 003 in the hardware section, mute is off and Core audio manager says: not connected (HW in use).
Please, does anybody have any ideas?

Have you tried this -

With the unit off hold down 'Aux In->7/8' and the 'Mute' button (next to the Monitor knob), and then turn on the power to the unit. On 003 you'll see the display say "Load Firmware" and the MIDI Lights (In, Out1, Out2) will all start flashing. The MIDI lights flashing is the only indication on the 003 Rack that the unit is in this mode.

Once it is in this mode, launch Pro Tools, and you will see the message, "003 has firmware version x.xx, do you want to update..." Click the Update button to upload the 003 firmware.

Are you running itunes at the same time, or any other application that may be competeing for core audio? I have trouble when I use itunes at the same time PT is open. Another question...are you running the core audio stand alone driver? I don't think that should be running with protools, only if you are using another DAW with the digi hardware, so if that is opened, then that may be why it is saying it is in use by another application.

That's normal - only one application can be using the hardware at any one time.

For the original poster - have you tried trashing preferences yet? Which port on the computer is the 003 connected to? Have you tried a different port or cable? What type of hard drive are you using for recording/playback?
