Default BFD in Leopard

I was kinda hoping I could use BFD, XFL, and all other plugins in Leopard, like orca etc, and not ONLY BFD2.

Is this possible?

Thanks for the answer. I guess they put BFD in secondline and hope people buy BFD2. God knows, but then I just have to use Tiger. No problemo! =)

By now we all know that what's "approved" and what "works" are not always the same.

It does seem that FXPansion is forcing its customers to upgrade to BFD2, which is concerning, but it may also be possible to get BFD1 to work. I'm able to use BFD1 with OS 10.5.1 without any problems - can't speak for OS 10.5.3.

I've been running BFD 1.5 in OSX 10.5.4 PTLE on my G5. It works...

Hi..

I asked on fxpansion forum, this was the answer I got from rory_fx

Do you mean BFD itself? If so, you should be running 1.5.47 if you use Logic 8 and 1.5.46 if you use any other host.

For XFL Expansion pack, if you already have the data installed, you only need apply the audio fixes and XFL Patcher (and the bonus content should you wish).

Right now I have 10.5.3, and it "works" in Protools, yet my mousepointer is jumping around abit when I move the mouse, though I ain΄t using more then 25-30 % of my cpu power. Seems like an uncompabilityproblem...

I guess BFD2 demands even more cpu power..

PS: Thanks for the answers. Found a buyer, so perhaps I΄ll go to BFD2. If not, there are probably other good solutions.

im using:

OSX 10.5.3
PT LE 7.4.2
BFD 1.5.46
imac dual 2.4 intel blah blah...
4 gigs ram

It works... terribly...

I cant go for 15 minutes without getting a -38 error. I also get the ever-popular PNG error as well. I get errors everytime I use it. If I knew BFD2 would solve these problems, I would go ahead and make the switch... However, I've lost confidence in BFD and pro tools working well together, so I'm a bit hesitant to upgrade.

There are no PNG or VDB -38 errors with BFD2 --- for the record those are Pro Tools bugs which seem related to low resources.

That is exactly what I've been wanting to hear!

If I'm having a problem with system resources, how will upgrading to a more CPU demanding BFD2 program make those problems go away? The only way I see that helping is if BFD is indeed the problem...

Although you say PNG and -38 errors are problems with pro tools, BFD causes them to happen and I believe that you're kidding yourself if you don't think thats the case. Even if they are problems with pro tools, BFD is supposed to be compatible with pro tools. My system is more than adequate, especially when you consider the meager minimum specifications required to run BFD according to the documentation. I guess what I'm saying is, if BFD causes major problems (and I would call -38 and PNG major problems) that are lying dormant in a program to come to the surface, then the product shouldn't be called compatible with Pro Tools. I know I'm not the only one with an overly-qualified system unable to run BFD.

With that being said, BFD is THE BEST sounding drum plugin as far as I'm concerned and I plan on upgrading if for no other reason than to fix these bugs. However, if there are some other bugs that reveal themselves only when I try to run BFD2, I will be THOROUGHLY upset.
