HD Driver 2023.9 STILL Broken.

So the 23.9 driver is suffering from the same issue as 23.6, which only effects OS 10.14 and earlier.

There are no user facing advantages to running either 23.6 or 23.9 over 23.3. There was some work done for Apple Silicon under the hood in 23.6 which caused the issue.

When the -6001 were initially reported, we had not been able to isolate the issue to the operating system, so we removed it most locations while we were investigating. It was not initially caught during our QA since we were not testing on the earlier Operating Systems.

Anyhow, I am sorry this slipped through the cracks again. I'll work with Support to put a notification on the 2023.9 Knowledge Base.

Suppose we're running OS 13.5.2 on an Apple Silicon Mac -- is there any advantage to using the 2023.9 driver?

Thanks Mark, but just FYI, I am running macOS 12.6.9 on an older MacPro 5,1. So it's not OS related but more likely some sort of PCI issue on the Intel machine with internal PCI slots. Whatever tweaks were done for the Apple Silicon broke compatibility with Intel/internal PCI slots.

Great data point, thank you. We're not testing on the 5,1 any longer, so all our QA pointed towards an OS commonality.

No, no real performance benefits that I am aware of from the work that twisted things up, this was purely back end maintenance to improve installation I believe.

I can't get my 5, 1 Mac Pro to load 23.9.

I was going straight from 22.12 and installed the 22.9 HD Driver and Audio Bridge as well as PT itself.

PT then wouldn't load past Sketch.

So I uninstalled the HD Driver and installed 23.3 as per this thread, hoping that would fix it.

Unfortunately not. Still hanging when it gets to Sketch.

Anybody else seen this on a 5, 1 Mac Pro?

Just a quick followup. I spent the day tweaking an existing stereo music mix on PT 2023.9/HD Driver 2023.3. Seems solid. No issues.

Hi Mark

Had the issue with 23.06 and now the same with 23.09 on Mac Pro 7,1 and macOS 12.6.6 Monterey.. reverting back to 23.03 works flawlessly, so it doesn't seem to be just 5,1 and 10.14 from what I can tell.
