Seems blazingly fast in general use. Shame no plugin's work.

Is there any performance uptick when moving from Monterey to Ventura?

What's the experience for non-Beta users? Stability? Have the ARA gremlins been sorted?

Just a note... Some of the Eventide plugs have been updated to run natively. this wasn't mentioned specifically in the release notes. UltraChannel 3.7.13, UltraReverb 3.8.0 and SP2016 Reverb 1.5.15 will run natively now. Latest Blackhole 3.8.16 will too, but I think Blackhole has been that way for a while.

I'm using a Mac Studio and I've got a UAD-2 TB3 Satellite OCTO. Latest version of the UAD plugins. I've got a mono-to-stereo instance of Hitsville Chambers on an Aux and I'm sending to it from a vocal track. I'm getting NOTHING from the AAX plug-in. No reverb... at best some very faint flanging. This is happening whether I run latest Pro Tools in Rosetta or native.

I did some experiments and swapped it out for the UADx version... it works as expected. I then replaced that with Blue Cat Audio PartchWork and ran the AU version of Hitsville Chambers (DSP version again) and that works fine... both with Pro Tools running in Rosetta and native.

Repeated this with several of my other DSP-assisted UAD reverb plugins: EMT 140, EMT 250. All with the same behavior. It might indicate a problem with the UAD AAX plugs. Weird thing is I think they didn't have a problem with previous version of Pro Tools. Maybe someone with a similar system and try and reproduce this. I'm running Monterrey 12.6.2. 64GB RAM.
Here no problems with UAD reverbs fortunately.

Mac mini 2020 M1 16GB/macOS Monterey 12.6.2, Apollo TB, UAD-2 Satellite Octo.
No issues as for the UAD plugins...EMT 140, AKG 20 etc "behaving properly", same as with Rosetta. Insert as well as Aux/Send.

Just for your info. I don't know, maybe I'm just kind of lucky though ...?

Cheers,

Doh! I must be unlucky. Just launched it again and opened a project and it's working fine now!! Go figure! I was updating some other plugs and had to do a restart since I had the problem, so maybe that fixed whatever was going on. Yeesh... sorry, but thanks for checking!

So, are there any real life benefits in running 2022.12 in Rosetta mode and under Ventura against 2022.10 under Monterey? (I already ruled the native beta out since I don‘ t want (and actually can not afford) to lose my C-24 and a ton of needed plugins).

And does 2022.12 in Rosetta mode and under Ventura work with a C-24?

This is the list of ARA bug fixes in 2022.12

  • Fixed a rendering bug on a Melodyne enabled track that only occurred when the tempo was changed (PT-292559)
  • ARA data is no longer missing when reopening a session if there were multiple instances of. the same clip on a track (PT-295464)
  • ARA 'blobs' will no longer disappear from a tick-based ARA-edited clip when the clip was looped (PT-295200)
  • Files will no longer be missing on tick-based audio tracks in the session saved with Save Copy in different SR for tick-based ARA tracks (PT-292075)
  • Session notes are no longer displayed during session open when the session contains duplicated ARA clips (PT-292066)
  • "TCE Edit to Timeline Selection" is now available on an ARA or Elastic Audio enabled tracks (PT-294248)

  • Melodyne commands are now available in the Custom Keyboard Shortcuts (PT-293659)
  • Removed a graphical defect in the Melodyne tab where it would render the tab black under certain conditions (PT-292759)

Good to know I'm not the only one. I think it's a bug. I'm getting this on SD3, EZbass, Valhalla and of all things FabFilter! Everyone uses FabFilter. I checked and I have the latest versions.

Fingers crossed that X-Form is missing because it's going to be updated with a new algorithm...?!

Nothing to report here that hasn't been covered. Opens and runs fine, just waiting on third party plugins and the avid ones.... StandardCLIP results in a beach ball unless you install the beta version.

Just as a test, a single MP3 import of 30 minute track with soothe2 4x ultra, and master fader StandardCLIP on M1 MacBook Pro, RME Digiface USB at 64 samples.

x64 oversampling works on rosetta
x128 makes Pro Tools CPU usage bolt to the top and go red, and won't play back at all.

In native, it plays for a second at 128x and then chokes in the same way.

Exports with 128x oversampling:
Export time native: 1.1x
Export time from rosetta: 0.9x

I suppose that's a roughly 20% and some increase in efficiency for bouncing at least, for this mini test.
The MP3 did import faster in Native mode.

Fingers crossed for Massey plugins to make it over. Not sure what I'll do without my CT5 and L2007. They're in every session I've done in the past 10 years+ and I do love them.
