Default y da hell is my session 743 minuts long?

y da hell is my session 743 minuts long?

I keep having to cut out volume edits out of the last second. I set the max session length to 10 minuts and it doesn't seem to be responding. There is just miles of blank space.

Am I missing somthing simple or is it just buggy? ProTools5.1 TDM MAC OS

It sounds like your session got corrupted. Create a new session and import your files into it. Then see if the problem clears up.

You may have an unintended automation entry at the end of your session. If so, it will force the session to its current length of 743 minutes.

Check ALL data on ALL tracks, and remove anything you find past the point where you want the session to end.

Hope this helps.

I had something similar:

I started backing up and the computer told me that I need 2.1 Gigs more backup space... I found out that a couple of tracks were suddenly over 250 Megs in size (pretty well for 4 minutes of 24-bit audio...) and were created in January 1904... I didn't know they had G4s back then...

The files were corrupt. Not sure what the reason was, but it might have something to do with the fact that the comuter crashed while recording...

How to quickly remove all data from a session which may be bloating its overall lenght:

-Select a point just after the last region in the session on the ruler bar (thus selecting all tracks)
-Press Shift/Option/Return to select everything forward of that point
-Press Delete

-If your exisiting session is corrupt, you will need to use the File>Import Tracks to move everything into a new session file (Save As or Save Session Copy In will not be enough to rid your session of gremlins).

-If you are launching from a template, it may be worth your while to create a new one.

Had a similar problem with a bounce to disk that was 800 minutes long. Trash the big 3 prefs and you'll be cool. I had another problem with zoom in a session that had automation after the end of the last track. The select all/swipe/delete after the end did the trick. Volume automation was the culprit of that one.
