Default AKG C3000/Digi-001 problems

Yooooo...... anyone using akg c3000 straight into digi's preamps? My setup is about 1 week old and I noticed a little bit of harshness or digital noise when recording vocals(24 bit files, Monster 100 XLR,pop filter, on R&B and Rap music). Anybody noticed this too???? I really wanted to get the Neumann TLM-103, but I've used the C3000 and Adats many times with no problems.

any suggestions???
Thanks

Hello all. You're kidding, right? If not, there must be something wrong w/ your unit. I use my inputs(1&2) all the time w/ no problems...

yes....... I've tried the pads on Digi and on the c3000 with no luck. and everthing is brand new digi, c3000, and the cable. today I even tried my old $50 Radio Shack mic(Shure) and cable with I 've used countless times for recording rough vocals in Cubas and Cakewalk with no distortion. I'll try the rear inputs to see with happens.

We've been using the 1/2 mic inputs for over a year with anything from a 57 to an AKC C-4000B, 414's, no problems. They are quite neutral preamps, and work fine for most applications.

If your XLR's are not working I suggest you contact Digidesign for a repair. You may have the well known crappy wave solder joint on the connectors. wiggle them around, fi the connection gets better/worse, then you need to touch up the solder points from connector to pcb. Not the easiest to get to, and once you are in there do all the connector pcb points, and you should have no problems.

The 001 interface is well known for it's poor soldering on the connectors to pcb. There have been many posts regarding this, mostly to do with the rear connectors, but I suspect the front ones coule also be subject to this issue, afterall they are all done at once on the same machine.

Hope this is helpful.

Personally I think it's the C3000. I used the 1/2 inputs with a borrowed EV RE-20 with wonderful results, bought a C3000 when my friend was ungracious enough to want his mic back and had exactly the same problems nukmusic describes. I've since sold the C3000 and record with a Shure KSM 27, which is awfully sweet. Could there be some basic incompatibility here?

My mackie 24-8 just hits it too hard. I do think there's something wrong with it. I end up just using the 3 and 4 ins. I have the board set to +4

I use TLM 103, AKG d880 and POD straight to 1&2 without problems. So maybe you have a level misconfiguration somewhere...
