Default Apogge Duet 1, Pro Tools 10, new Mac Mini or Macbook Air

Hi all,

Time to upgrade on a budget...

Any experience with 2012 Mac Mini or Macbook Air, Apogee Duet 1 and Pro tools 10 please? Working well? Any issues?

Will be using external HD such as Lacie Rugged SSD USB3/Thunderbolt.

Any comments appreciated,

Thanks.

The new Macs are not the issue. I'm not sure if the Duet 1 will work with Mountain Lion, which the new Macs come with. And I'm not sure if they're updating the Duet 1 drivers anymore.

I don't know if ssd's make good session drives. They make great system drives though.

I use the duet 1 with a new 1 month old Mac Mini. No problems at all.

Using an external FireWire drive with no problems as well.

I love my Mac mini. I wish I would have gone with a flash drive. It would make starting up much quicker.

Just spent 10 days recently working with the Firewire Duet and PT 10 on a recent generation MacBook (just before Thunderbolt and Retina).

Make sure to use the last software update with the new Maestro software. We OCCASIONALLY had an issue where we had to quit PT and unplug then re-plug the Duet. The Firewire connection was somehow dropped.

With the older Maestro drivers, there were issues where multiple instances of the Duet were created in software (two Duets listed in the playback engine drop- down), and the sound would disappear. Anyway, just use the most recent drivers, and you should be cool.
