About to go crazy
I am about to go crazy, everytime I install and run Pro Tools 6.7 it crashes with a blue screen. I downloaded the 6.4cs update thing and it still doesn't work! I have read many posts and see that I am not the only one with this problem. My laptop came preinstalled with Windows XP SP2, which is probably the source of this problem. I can't take much more, this should never happen when you buy something so expensive such as Mbox, etc. And the Technical Support line, how unbelievable can they be, $3 a minute, they must be out of there mind. First, when you make a major purchase like this I can understand some problems but seriously you shouldn't have to go through all this crap, and technical support should be free. I am sorry if I am ranting but I kept my cool long enough and can't take any more of this. I have tried what people have told me and have gotten nowhere. If anyone can help me out please do. My laptop is a Gateway with 512Mb 80Gb hard drive, and an AMD Athlon 64 processor And of course Windows XP SP2. Please help

Re: About to go crazy
If you're using 6.7, you shouldn't be using the 6.4cs update.

Re: About to go crazy
Nicc,
We're in the same boat. I think SP1 is our only hope at this point. I'm going to go grab an academic edition of XP Pro SP1 this week (thank goodness for my uni ID not expiring until '07) and try that. If it doesn't, you'll be the first to know. Digi will be the second. If you can find someone with an install disc, I would say to go buy a boxed copy of SP2 from the lowest-priced vendor possible, keep it boxed, and then install the SP1 version, since MS will be paid and you'll have a license. |

Re: About to go crazy
Ive come to the conclusion that SP2 doesnt work with athlon 64s. Try and snag a version of XP without service pack 2. 6.7 runs great with no service packs installed.

Re: About to go crazy
I'm in agreement. Just installed XP Pro with no Service Packs on my Sempron setup, works great. SP2 breaks Sempron + Pro Tools, or something like that.
That's our fix, kids. |
