Re: How many here using Dual Video Monitors ???
Any one else?
Oh, while we are at it, How do you all deal with the lack of dual monitor support? What is the quickest way to place the windows on the second screen? I was wondering if creating a utility to do this would be a good idea or maybe there is one out there already. |

Re: How many here using Dual Video Monitors ???
Hello,
I use two LCD monitors with a Maxtor G450 dual AGP card and Windows XP. I just switched to PC from Apple. After I save a session and reopen it, it opens like it should. The edit screen is on the left and the mixer on the right. I do not have to resize anything. My desktop is set so it is one big desktop-spread over two monitors. Is this unusual? Rock On! Re: How many here using Dual Video Monitors ???
Dual 17" monitors on a Matrox G550 AGP card. I love it... but I hate resizing the windows all the time - basically whenever I have to open a new session. But uit beats having to hit Ctrl/+ all day long. I love being able to see the mix and edit windows simultaneously. I run mix on the right and edit on the left.
When I open a session, I click on the "square" icon at the upper right of the main window to shrink it. Then I position it in the extreme upper left corner of the left monitor, then drag the lower right corner out until it covers both screens. Then I adjust the windows within that to taste... edit on the left and mix on the right, with the transport under the mix on the right, and the markers / location window on the right next to the mixer. But that's just personal preference. You can lay them out any way you want to. It's a hassle to have to do it all the time, but resizing is worth it. I love dual monitors... I just wish they'd fix this so it "remembers" the screen layout...

Re: How many here using Dual Video Monitors ???
Hello,
Yes, I am using a PC-XP Home, P3-1gig. If I open a new session I have to resize everything;but if I open a previous session I was working on, it is the same as I saved it. The edit window is on the left, mixer and plugins are on the right, transport and system useage meter are where I left them. Everything I do on the computer initially opens up as if the desktop is one screen(restart-shutdown are in the middle and not moveable-hard to see);then I position them how I want and the next time they are opened as saved/prefered. I had a tech install XP and setup system. I don't know much about computers, but this is how my dual monitors are operating. Rock On! Tim Traynor Backstage Recording |

Re: How many here using Dual Video Monitors ???
I am shopping around to go dual lcds (currently using 1 on a GF-MX 400). I was under the impression that if you used a "spanning" mode Windows would then see two 1024x768 screens as one 2048x768 ? Thus eliminating the need for repositioning and resizing. Otherwise you have two seperate screens that PTLE sees and only uses one (hence the need for a resize and reposition ...) any thoughs?
