Default Re: will PT 11 ever work with El Capitan?

Some really helpful info, thanks guys!
If anyone knows a way/hack to install Yosemite (or Mavericks or Mt Lion)
on a new iMac I would love to know.
Remember the "product specialist" that I was chatting with on the Apple store website told me that the newest iMacs could NEVER run on an older OS than El Cap. She said that since no old OS had been installed there would be no way to roll back to it. I suspect this is incorrect, anyone have more info?

Glad to hear that, as I am currently running PT10 on Mt Lion.
Will see if that works better, I also have PT11 that my current mac is too slow for, maybe I will try it with Mavericks.

But the point of my post is I need to buy a new Mac and they only come with El Cap now, and Apple says the new Macs are not able to run on any OS older than El Cap.
Hoping other users will share their experience running PT11 or 12 on El Cap.
Or if there is a hack to install Mavericks or Yosemite on a new mac.

Those new Macs that were released prior to ElCap launch will be able to run Yosemite. Grab one now if you need one!

It's working well for me. My system:
OSX 10.11.1 — clean installed the OS on a freshly wiped drive
MacBook Air late-2012 / 2gHz i7 / 8gb ram / 256gb ssd
Apogee Duet
etc

EDIT: The Import Audio command also doesn't work for me, as others have mentioned; though dragging files from the Finder works ok.

Buy the new mac if that is what you want. I am sure that PT will mostly work and it will be supported soon anyways. I had people doom saying me when I did the Yosemite upgrade and guess what? Worked perfectly. Avid will support it soon enough on both versions. If you want 12 get it. If you already have 11 just install that for now. Dont listen to people who tell you it wont work. The OS is not that different. And Avid wont be long in supporting the OS. Apple macs are their bread and butter. YMMV

So I moved ahead and got a new i7 iMac and purchased PT12 (perpetual version). Hopefully PT 12 will work with El Cap, as there is no way to roll back or download previous OS (from what Apple support is telling me).
I don't expect it to not have issues, will find out this week as I install it.
After a lot of soul-searching I decided saving $ by going Windows would just suck for me.
Thanks for all the good info everybody!

I think you are absolutely right about this although the challenge will probably be security. We've reached the point that battery life has become a more important feature to most people than raw performance.
