Waves IR1 issues at 96k

I just did a major upgrade (shoot me) from a

G5/10.5.8/PTHD8.03/HD3PCI-x/Waves7 to

8CoreMacPro/10.6.6/PTHD9.01/HD3PCI-xwithExpansionChassis/Waves8.

Instances of Waves IR1 on an Aux track at 96k produce all sorts of pops and clicks while the transport is in stop and distortion when signal flows.

44/48k sessions are fine.

At higher sample rates you need to increase your buffer size for RTAS hogs like IR1

also, do you have your "host processor" setting set to use all 8 cores, or have you backed them off a bit. If you leave a core or two open for the the OS to use exclusively, you might see and increase in performance. This is more the case for Soft Synths than plugins, but may help in this situation...

Either way, that is a pretty sweet upgrade and a solid setup for a while to come.

Thank you. That was it. The H/W buffer size was back down to 256 samples. Bumping it up to 512 samples fixed it. That's the advantage and disadvantage of having an older stable system. It always works but you forget about all those little tweaks you made along the way to get it that stable.

Now on to the next issue....
