Default Commit Sound Quality - or is it offline bounce?

Hey
I'm using PT12.3 and there are some great features for sure.

My question is the sound of synths etc using the commit feature.
I've always moved synths from midi to audio the long way, setting a bus and recording them in real time hence not using the offline bounce feature until now.

While I love the workflow and simplicity of commit, I'm missing the quality but suspect it's the sound of offline bounce of midi to audio I'm not liking.

Just tested a track today which is very synth heavy, 6 Omnisphere2 tracks, 6 Kontakt tracks, 2 Massive, 2 Absynth.... you get the idea. Not running anything externally through outboard.

I'm just finding the Commit audio somewhat lifeless, losing punch and highs etc.

Any one else?

those who live for the null tests online jumped on the "commit null tests" soon as 12.3 dropped. all were happy with the results. u may have another issue.

Hi JKR!

Try that :
-Print your synth with both solutions.
-Solo the 2 audio tracks.
-Invert phase on one of the audio clip. Audio suite -> Invert
(Make sure you have the exact same gain on both tracks).
You should hear absolute silence.
(Good test to run in case of doubt)
If you do, your issue is completely psycho-acoustical.

Cheers!!

Pierre

Guess I'll do some online bounces of some of the tracks to satisfy my brain.
Difficulty is of course with synth modulation etc it's doubtful even tracks perceived as sounding the same will null.....
