Default Editing out Entire Verse of Song

Hi Guys,

Is there a function to edit out an entire verse of the song?

Ideally, I'd like the machine to chop, glue, and insert the crossfades on multiple tracks with one click, but I'll take anything I can get right now ...

don't really want to manually have to do this for 13 tracks.

Thanks.

lol .... 13 tracks eh ? ...
Sorry for the chuckle but I sure hope your future editing life limits itself to just 13 tracks.

anyways : I'll give you a couple of pointers / directions to look into and then you will have to figure it out for yourself because there is no such thing or function as 'cut verse 1' in Pro Tools.

Hope your stuff is recorded to grid for this. If it isn;t you will have to manually detect the bars yourself. Which should be a problem really but anyways :

grid mode
select the portion you want to extract across all tracks (tip -> click in the timeline above the edit window)
shuffle mode
cut selection
position the cursor across the tracks at the exact location you want to insert
paste.

finish by adding small xfades if necessary.

This is the type of stuff - if you're new to editing in any daw it can seem so complicated. In fact it isn't. You need to learn how to use these tools - get them in your fingers as they say.

A good editor - if you're in grid - and you have marker points for the different section of your song can do an edit like that in 2 or 3 seconds max.

Region groups also comes to mind for this type of stuff.

The learning curve can be quite steep depending the level you want to reach. Tip : read the entire manual. AT LEAST 3 times. Seriously. You should. and then practice stuff.

Of course it won't happen over night but if you set yourself 15 minutes a day to study a couple of pages - you'd be amazed at how much you will pick up and learn in just a couple of weeks

I like the answer above but I personally go for the "cut time" function

Event menu>time operations>cut time

Then highlight the desired section to be cut, then cut!

Good luck!

mja - good point - cut time works well for tick based / and tempo map related stuff and maybe even the better solution if you recording to a bars and beats grid.

More of a hassle if you didn't I think.

Thanks guys. Some good tips here ... cut time is pretty to the point for what I'm looking for.

I may actually read the manual ... maybe not though.

Thanks.
