Default Trigger Strike from live drums?

Hey, just wondering (sorry if this is a common question, but I couldn't find any answers) if anyone knows if you can record live drums and somehow convert that to MIDI or something to have Strke play what I played. I'm a drummer but can't get a good recorded sound that I like. Just thought I'd try this if possible. Using Pro Tools 8 still, by the way, and a 003 factory+ interface. Cheers for any help...

Check out Massey DRT (drum replacement tool). Creates MIDI from drum performances...

you can use drum triggers and an interface that spits out MIDI.

Ddrum makes the best triggers IMO.

And then you need an interface, you could use a drum module, but if you just need MIDI the Alesis Trigger I/O is great and highly customizable. You can set what midi note it triggered by the drum trigger, set the how sensitive the hit is and much more.

if you just want to change the sound of the drum tracks you already recorded then you can use Drumagog or one of the many other drum replacement options.
