ASP
here's a question not directly related to PT but since most of us have the same systems thought i'd ask.
when i attempt to launch Apple System Profiler my system drive just grinds for about a minute, and i get an error msg: "Apple System Profiler cannot be found (-36)" the ASP app IS in the appropriate folder. anyone encounter this before? sorry if this is too off topic. i was unable to register to post at xlr8yourmac due to mail server problems, and apple support page just loops me to the same page. this problem is driving me nuts. thanks KS |

Re: ASP
I'm just guessing here, but have you tried trashing the ASP Preferences? They are right there in the Preferences folder... also, zap your PRAM. I can't think of anything else.

Re: ASP
I'm sorry I don't have the answer to your question but may I suggest that you also ask at http://dealchat.com ? Lots of mac experts over there! Also, you might want to come up with a more explicit title to your thread if you want people to open it. Like "Apple System Profiler cannot be found (-36) error...?".
Good luck! |

Re: ASP
Could it be that it needs Applescript to be installed and it isnt?
If its an extention issue, startup with the basic extention set.

Re: ASP
i have tried all these suggestions with no avail. i have decided to pursue the solution elsewhere due to it's borderline relevance to PT. you can consider this topic closed. (unless anyone has had this specific problem and has the answer!!!)
but thanks to all who replied. |

Re: ASP
depending on the sound the hard drive is making... it is possible the hard disk has bad sectors and it so happens that the system profiler is located on that sector.
