Just did it, for two months worth of tracking and overdubs, on an album project and not one problem arose that would have called for the method to have been changed.
Me too... I rarely, if ever, turn ADC off when odubbing. You are fine with the Massey L2007. But, if you slap an L3 on that MF you will have to deactivate.(at least I do)
Just goes to show how efficient the Massey plugs are, compared to waves which has over 80 ms of delay as opposed to the massey's 1.4 ms (24/48) sb

I THINK if you keep your Master Fader free of RTAS plugins, or even Inactive while recording, you'll be ok With Delay compensation left on. in PT8?
The problem typically would only be noticeable when you have plug-ins on the Master Fader with a lot of delay - since they are not compensated for it delays the output compared to the ADC tracks and you'll essentially be playing to something that's not in time with other tracks. If you're only using low delay plug-ins, this won't be as noticeable.

If the plugin on the Master is made inactive, does PT still try to compensate for the delay?

What happens to me is that I'll be playing a new MIDI part and when I'm done all of the MIDI notes are early in PT (OK, I'm not the tightest player, but it's much more drastic than just that). The VI responds pretty well live - not much of a player's delay - but it's rendered inaccurately, at least inaccurate relative to where I was actually playing it while recording.

Is this a different problem altogether?

Yah, I agree, with a Waves Linear Multiband or L3 the delay would be noticeable big time.

Eric, sorry bout that. had to run.
Is the midi in the right place on the grid?
What version did you use when creating the session, or was it created elsewhere?
Do you have "real time properties" activated? offsets?
Have you changed your hardware buffer settings? (setup/playback engine...)
Try lowering that...
Then, (or before then) trash your midi preferences. (using the trash pref utility)
AND.... make sure that you turn off ADC when recording. Try that. I have had this issue before and it has been one of , or a combination of, the above.
Good luck, sb
