Re: Interface for Pro Tools

Hi Branko,

Steinberg UR28M does exactly this, I’ve had one for about 8 years without issue.

The volume knob displays its -db value in the software (digital control in 0.5db steps) so you can...

Re: Avid MC editor setting up for ProTools and Mix

Steinberg UR28m works well as a low budget 5.1 interface and very basic monitor controller too. Volume control for all speakers, mutes speakers in pairs.

Re: 7.1.4 hardware metering option

After reading this thread, I’ve been trialling Pure Analyser running on a second machine (Mac mini 2014 which I just use as a server normally).

Very impressed so far with the displays and options...

Re: Universal Audio Neve DFC plugin

Live inputs are not relevant to a post sound mix which the DFC plug in is meant for...

I’d really like to try your plug ins but your tying into hardware makes it practically impossible. The cost...

Re: Ua dfc

Thanks for explaining how it works for you - I think circumstances are the biggest factor.

I work at one place a lot, and from home, and in other facilities from time to time.

The place I work...

Re: Ua dfc

I’d quite like to demo it, and the 480L plug in but you have to have UAD DSP to demo it yourself.

Third party DSP seems like an expensive dongle in this context to me, another compatibility issue...

Re: Video Engine Frame Rate? Red 23 fps?

The red colour indicates the frame rate of the video file
is not the same as the session's rate, which you define in the Session Setup window. This in itself does not change the playback timing of...

Re: Pro Tools and Nuendo Hardware syncing

Thanks for the help guys. I think the chances are the sync station maybe overkill if MTC is a reliable positional reference with Nuendo. The master transport would be Pro Tools. I'll find out more...

Re: Pro Tools and Nuendo Hardware syncing

It can I believe, too much automation to go that route (so I am told)

Pro Tools and Nuendo Hardware syncing

Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has experience of locking together a PTHD and Nuendo with full sync (trilevel, wordclock, 9-pin/some other transport). I'm talking to a production whose sound...

Re: Video Export is too dark

There's a long history of gamma shift/black level changes between QuickTime and Avid codecs/ media composer. Without knowing your specific issue, some searches on 'QuickTime black level' may help you...

Re: How do I import AVCHD package video files from Sony HD cam?

Are you using the Sony XDCAM transfer software to extract the files first?

Re: Quick'n'Dirty Dynamic Compression from Film to TV

You may find the parallel compression unnecessary if you set the low compressor to 1.5:1 and keep the gain reduction to around 6db. I use Compassion which has a dry/wet control so you can do parallel...

Re: Quick'n'Dirty Dynamic Compression from Film to TV

If you want to raise the low parts, set a very low threshold (-40 to -50db depending on how dynamic the mix is already) and a very low ratio (no more than (2:1 absolute maximum) and you will get...

Re: Would you like to delete all unused auto-created regions now? (ALWAYS!)

Make a new session and use 'import session data' to import the tracks. You get your session back without opening it.

Re: ReVibe 2 go to reverbs?

Most reverbs are designed so their presets sound good on music emulating stone or wood sounding reflections. Most interiors used for dialogue have people and furnishings, carpets and beds all of...

Soundfield UPM-1 upmixer to go AAX

After talking to TSL who are the owners of the Soundfield products, it looks like an AAX version is definitely on its way. This is a quote from one of their sales managers:

'The good news is that...

Re: Surround panner successor?

I'd always assumed that surround panning in Pro Tools was a closed environment, hence the Avid/JL Cooper joint panner. The skillet sounds as though it doesn't have Avids blessing, given the...

Re: Penteo 4 Pro - 5.1 upmix

Talented composer with not a lot of engineering experience doing his own stuff = problems.

Hopefully Soundfield doing AAX versions of their Ambisonic decoder plug ins is a good omen.

Next time...

Re: Penteo 4 Pro - 5.1 upmix

I did an A/B comparison with the Soundfield UPM and ADL Penteo 3 plug in on a piece of stereo mixed score which needed to be upmixed to 5.1 for a film using the demo versions of both plug ins.

I...

Re: Surround panner successor?

To be fair there was a lot on it yet to be implemented. I don't think it's really a finished product yet.

Re: Surround panner successor?

I was amazed by the silliness of the panner not following the selected track. The demo I had of the beta S6 the touch panner didn't do this either. Seems to be a bit of a mental block somewhere.

Re: Surround panner successor?

I used to use and like the JL Cooper made MIDI joystick panner, but the cost for what it does was eye watering.

Priced lower it may have sold better, and I prefer it to touch screen. A replacement...
