Report on Presonus FaderPort

Hi everyone,

I just got my FaderPort from Presonus. For those of you who have been considering it, I thought I'd give a report as an "early adopter". It seems to work pretty good! I've never been...

002 parts

It looks like we've got some dead firewire ports on a few of our 002's (from too much hot-swapping I guess). They are all beyond the warranty period. I'm confident that I could fix them if I could...

Re: Midi phase issue.......

I don't think it's a phase problem. I think it's a polarity problem. Check all your audio cables and make sure they're not wired backwards. It may also be a pin 2 or pin 3 hot issue between the Korg...

Re: protools wont let me rewire

Re-install the full version of Reason now. All should be well after that.

Re: protools wont let me rewire

You have to delete the old version of Reason. Reason has problems with two versions running on the same computer. Delete the adapted version.

Re: HELP! Pt Le 6.1.1 steals Midi Port from Reason

You've got it backwards. Reason is trying to steal the MIDI port from Pro Tools. When Pro Tools is launched, it gets exclusive access to the Digidesign interface, including the MIDI ports. This is by...

Re: 001 & Garage Band Question ??

Nope. For that you need Logic. Logic Express 7 is a great deal. I've been playing around with it for a month or two now and it looks very promising. You have direct access to all the software...

Re: Midi was a mind of its own, help please

I'm sure the problem is related to Sampletank somehow. Check your polyphony settings first and verify that you have enough RAM.

Re: Get 3rd Party Score Program to Trigger Synth?

Sorry, I should have been more specific. The guy that writes MIDI-OX has made a little sister program called MIDI Yoke NT. That will create 8 virtual MIDI ports on your XP system and you should be...

Re: Get 3rd Party Score Program to Trigger Synth?

Are you on a Mac? If so, use your Pro Tools virtual MIDI inputs. Point your score program to one of those inputs and set the input of your MIDI track in Pro Tools to that input. Record-enable the...

Re: contract questions about composing and payment

At this point I would stop talking contract and fees with anyone and go get an agent ASAP. There is a reason why talent agents exist. We artists will get screwed every time we try and negotiate...

Re: MIDI \"IN\" LED BLINKS NONSTOP!!

There's a couple MIDI signals that will cause this behavior.

Tne most common one is Active Sense. It's nothing to worry about but what you should do is launch up a MIDI data display program. MIDI...

Re: Reason and protools

If Reson was started up using the Pro Tools Rewire plug-in, you'll need to also restart Reason before it will be able to get any MIDI input. Also, there are two MIDI preference panes in Reason. One...

Re: Reason and protools

Why yes there is. Try this handy little program:

http://www.snoize.com/MIDIMonitor/

This will show you exactly what's going on in your G5's MIDI world.

And does the MIDI track get MIDI...

Re: Reason and protools

Is Pro Tools getting MIDI data from your keyboard? I would check that first. Reason isn't going to get the MIDI until Rewire sends it. Rewire isn't going to send it until Pro Tools sends it. Pro...

Re: MOTU Midi Timepiece AV Serial w/ Mac OS X ???

I'm afraid you're out of luck. Even with a USB to serial adapter, the diver doesn't work with the serial MTP/AV.

Maybe try and sell it on ebay and use the proceeds to buy a new USB version.

Re: Indefinite note sustain prtoblem.

Can you confirm that the "note off" command is being sent? You should test your keyboard using MIDI Monitor or MIDI-OX to make sure all the keys are working properly. Once you've established that it...

Re: Hearing MIDI...

First of all, nobody can hear MIDI. It doesn't make any sound. MIDI is simply a command that tells something else to make sound.

Think of it like playing a piano. Your finger is issuing the...

Re: no sound from controller

If it's just a controller then it doesn't make any sound. It just sends MIDI commands. You need to point the MIDI commands to something that makes sound like a synth module, a sampler, or a Reason...

Re: help. looking for a good midi control surface

Well, if $400 is your limit, I would highly recommend the Peavey PC 1600x. It has 16 buttons, 16 faders, two CV inputs, two footswitch contacts, and 50 presets that can fire a MIDI string when...

Re: Creating Loops in Pro Tools???

Pro Tools is really the wrong tool for the job in this case. There isn't really an elegant way to define loops.

You'll be much happier using a two-track sample editor to create loops. I prefer...

Re: pitch bending?

If you've got Reason or some other soft synth, you could load it up in a sampler and send a pitch bend envelope to it on a MIDI track.

But Pitch 'N Time is the slickest way (If you can cough up...
