I have a 2012 MacPro w/2x 512 Apple SSDs (boot and Samples), and 6 WD 6TB Black Caviars on eSATA (connected via PCIe cards) and a FW800 1TB Caviar for DropBox.

I have ALWAYS disabled spin down...

Speaking for HDX :p users - my normal path consists of cascading a signal through approximately 10 busses serially, and that same signal is also split parallel at the source (and farther along)...

My sessions are in the range of 190 to 300+ voices. My spikes appear to be correlated to the Native Plugs I use - in other words, the more AAX-DSP I utilize, the more stable ( i.e. no -917x spikes)...

Correct - I have the possibility to run Native Only - however, I have no IO outside of HDX, therefore rendering me useless. <sigh>

This is a dedicated HDX system - thats all it does.

I was able to enable all plugs natively without spiking. Here are the screen shots and the Mac Info (also in my sig).
