One thing at least seems to help
I was able to go then down to 128 on a T61
with XP and PT8LE

is to disable both WIFI and LAN extention
from the device manager.
there's also a new RiCOH script...

with a dual 867 G4 I can't use it under 256 samples wihtout some pops or clics
( logic 7.01 & X.3.8 )
