Specifically, it was the cyberlink software that seemed to cause the problem. Once I removed it (with the DD/Avid tech online), the Mini worked.

Thanks everyone! Turns out that I had other third party software that HP puts on the laptop for label printing that was stopping the drivers. Once, they were removed, the driver worked again. Now...
