Re: Control|24 and ProControl with Pro Tools 11?

Well, I sold off my Digi gear (didn't get much) and I've been working in Studio One for about 8 months and it's been great. No dropped support, no iLok, no problem! Apollo 16 in front, plugs are...

Re: Control|24 and ProControl with Pro Tools 11?

Perhaps, but with a modular setup I won't suffer the same panic and sudden expense that happens when support is dropped on proprietary gear.

Re: Control|24 and ProControl with Pro Tools 11?

No, it's not that. It would just be bad business to continue the upgrade path. Over the years I'm an easy 30 grand into Digi/Avid and can no longer justify the price of another upgrade. I already...

Re: Control|24 and ProControl with Pro Tools 11?

I will never buy a piece of hardware from Digidesign, Avid or even Focusrite again.

Re: Control 24 sticky solution?

I wonder if there is some kind of lacquer that will take care of it. My armrest is so sticky it's quite disgusting. Feels like someone spilled orange soda on it.

Control PSU question

Took out my Control 24 PSU for repair and noticed one of the 5-pin connectors (TB5) didn't have anything attached to it. I looked inside the back panel and didn't see anything. Is this designed this...

Re: Faders 9-16 move randomly...

True, but we used better connectors. The feeling was that the problem is inherent in the stock parts. Also, about $300 of the $1500 was for the expansion chassis repair and PSU, so it was really...

Re: Faders 9-16 move randomly...

Don't want to jinx it, but it's been 10 weeks - so far so good. As soon as he has a external PSU mod available I'll be first in line.

Re: Faders 9-16 move randomly...

It's been five days with absolutely no problem. The tech feels replacing the harness is not money well spent, because the design flaw could result in the same problem. Better to modify existing...

Re: Faders 9-16 move randomly...

Got the modded Control 24 home today. All connectors on harness have new Molex pins, including connectors on fader control boards. Some resoldering on PSU was necessary as well. So far so good - 5...

Re: Faders 9-16 move randomly...

Found a tech that is doing the molex mod suggested by Shorty and it should be ready in a week. He said he's already done it a few times for other customers. I'll let you know how it goes after I've...

Re: Faders 9-16 move randomly...

Shorty - I found a reliable tech who can do your mod and, if I can afford it, make the power supply external. Curious - did you need to use a crimping tool to make them fit on the pins properly?

Re: Faders 9-16 move randomly...

Called Svc ctr and begged. They'll replace the harness for $950 in "maybe a week or two". I haven't decided what to do. I asked about doing Shorty's mod and they said they wouldn't do it. I really...

Re: Faders 9-16 move randomly...

Well, I was good for about 6 days. Problem's back today. I'll do it again and see how long it lasts. Then I'll either replace the crimps or dump the whole thing. I have a TAC Scorpion that will fit...

Re: Faders 9-16 move randomly...

Quick report: Unit's been powered up since last night (no fan!). I just finished a 3 hr session. No problems yet. Got another session in a few minutes. I'll update in a few hours.

There clearly...

Re: Faders 9-16 move randomly...

I opened up the Control 24 and disconnected and cleaned all the connectors on the fader boards as Shorty Emcee suggested. Also did the PSU reseat. The fader boards are marked A, B and C, although...

Re: Control24 Phantom Power Supply Pins

I don't know if you solved your phantom problem, but his happened to me just yesterday: there's a little 2-pin connector "thingy" (I'm not a tech) that goes from the PSU to the phantom buttons that...

Re: Faders 9-16 move randomly...

Shorty - thank you for your input. You are correct, it is not a solution, just a quick fix. I'll try what you suggested next week when I have a few days off. Did you have the same fader problem? When...

Re: Faders 9-16 move randomly...

Yes, heat is absolutely the cause. Powered up today without the fan. Problem came back in only 58 minutes. That pretty much proves it.

In the case on my Control 24, the PS area is not hot to the...

Re: Faders 9-16 move randomly...

It doesn't get that hot, actually. But it does feel warm on the outside near the power supply. With the fan on it stays cool, actually cold, to the touch. It's been in the Argosy desk for at least...

Re: Faders 9-16 move randomly...

Yes, those little AC fans are noisy and heavy for their size. But it's just temporary. I really don't hear it when the Argosy lid is closed.

If I have no problem after the end of this week (it's...

Re: Faders 9-16 move randomly...

Yes, the PSU is and has been clean. I took it out last week for the "reseat ritual". I'm not a tech, so I wouldn't say the problem is solved, just under control for now. I assume the problem will...

Found a quick fix - might also shed some light on the problem. Stand By.
