I think either format can be entirely adequate for most tasks. When we extend into large formats with a lot of I/O, yes, the formats begin to show discrepancies, but for the average configuration...

Trying, very hard, to use USB but in doing so I lose the Avid HD, full stop. No way around that. So unless I can find an alternate for the Avid interface I'm stuck with HDN. It's fine, but I can't...

These HD Native Thunderbolt boxes are Thunderbolt 2 and use the TB2 connector (I suppose some call it mini displayport). The new Macs have USB-C ports. You can see where this is going...
