Re: HDN Thunderbolt & Windows Laptop

I can't comment on a Windows laptop running PT HD, but my PT HD 12.1 rig (see sig) runs two HDX cards on TB2 under Win 8.1. My HDX cards are in a Sonnet Tech III-D chassis. Sonnet Tech and Avid TS...

Re: PC or MAC pro for PT HD native system?

G'dom can explain more fully, but the general maxim is CPU clock speed is paramount for lowest latency. As you go above 8 cores, clock speed goes down. If an app isn't optimized for multithreading...

G'dom, I don't think "roberts" is trolling, I think he is simply uninformed.

Re: PC or MAC pro for PT HD native system?

Reality check.

"Not available" for Win PC is no longer accurate for any of the items above. Just pick the GPU or other PCIe device to provide what you want. Gigabyte's new TB2 dual port card is...

Back to the iLok comments. Many new mobos, like ASRock X99s, have an internal (mobo surface mount) USB 3.0 port that is perfect for an iLok dongle if you use the same rig all the time. No dongle...

Re: HDX card not recognized

You're using Windows. The bad news.... the HDX card needs to be in an external TB chassis unless your Win machine is an HP Z series "workstation" (perhaps in its prime the Z800 was a workstation,...

Did you ever install Win 7 on your boot drive?
Windows XP and later leave footprints. For a clean install you must nuke the drive.

Re: i7 Builds - Specs and Results

The NH-D15 kit I received had several brackets... just not one for the v.3 socket.
Let's wait to see if the next person who orders an NH-D15 gets a v.3 kit without ordering an NM-I2011.

Re: i7 Builds - Specs and Results

I ordered an NH-D15.
It did not have a ver. 3 mounting kit.

Re: i7 Builds - Specs and Results

The NH-D15 doesn't have a ver. 3 mounting kit. I know, because I had to send one back. I thought the spec was wrong... that Noctua wouldn't omit a ver. 3 kit in Noctua's latest and greatest. From...

Re: i7 Builds - Specs and Results

Your CPU cooler must have mounting for the LGA-2011 ver. 3 (aka LGA 2011-3 or LGA 2011 v.3 or "R") socket. That Noctua NH12 will not work.
The Thermalright Macho Rev. B has the v.3 mounting kit...
